The LSAT is taken by students wishing to attend law schools throughout the US and Canada, but the test is administered across the globe, as the LSAT continues to spread internationally. (Read this blog post we wrote about the LSAT abroad.)
There is only one location available to take the LSAT in South Africa: Johannesburg, University of Witwatersrand.
Although there is only one location option in South Africa, the LSAT is offered there four times per year, just like in the US: February, June, September/October, and December. A complete list of test dates and deadlines can be found here.
However, unlike the US, all international LSAT administrations are nondisclosed, meaning that students will only receive access to their LSAT score, score band, percentile rank, and writing sample. The text of the LSAT and LSAT answers are not included in the score reports.
LSAC advises that international students register for the LSAT as early as possible, as testing center space is limited. Students can register online through their LSAC.org account or by calling LSAC at 215.968.1001.
Testing center locations are subject to change. You should refer to your LSAC.org account for the most up-to-date information regarding open test centers. For the most current information about taking the LSAT in South Africa, or if you have any questions, refer to LSAC for more information.
In South Africa, the use of the LSAT is a relatively new phenomenon, and thus there are not many on-the-ground LSAT preparation options. However, there are still many high-quality LSAT preparation options available to LSAT takers there, including PowerScore’s Live Online LSAT courses, On Demand LSAT courses, self-study using LSAT preparation books like the LSAT Bibles, and online LSAT tutoring.
