Need a Break? Movies for Every Kind of Studying!

Sometimes, taking a two-hour movie break is all you need to get you back on track. Here are six movies that will both take your mind off the test and stimulate your brain!

Inception

The suspenseful action and mind boggling plot leave you testing your intellect the whole way through. By the end of the movie you’ll be wondering, who is truly awake and who is living a dream? This is the perfect movie to take a break with since it will keep your brain ticking away the whole time!

A Beautiful Mind

The movie is based on the true story of John Nash, a genius mathematician whose works have proved of great value to economists. Actor Russell Crowe portrays both the ups and downs of Nash’s life, from meeting his wife to the realization that he suffers from severe schizophrenia.

Pollock

Based on the true story of Jackson Pollock, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, who helped bring the expressionism movement to fame in America, this movie is perfect for the artistic students out there.

1984

Nineteen Eighty-Four is arguably one of the greatest novels of the 20th century, and here it is brought into a true-to-novel film adaptation. The film tells the story of a couple who fall in love during a time where only love for the government was acceptable. After a few months of happiness they are tortured into forgetting their love, and only when their love and spirit is broken can the government truly control them.

Amadeus

The film has a mixture of several elements: musical genius, struggles with God and with the mind, and how jealousy can tear a man apart. Antonio Salieri’s jealousy of the musical genius of Mozart, and his complete belief that God has sent Mozart to mock him make this a movie worth watching. Very loosely based on two real people in history, the movie received eight Academy Awards, eight Oscars and four Golden Globes.

Finding Forrester

A heartwarming film about the unlikely friendship that forms between a young basketball player and a reclusive writer, it focuses on keeping promises, reaching your potential, and never backing down from a challenge. The film started with limited releases in 2000 and went on to hit #1 in the box office when re-released nationwide in 2001.
